CrossFit and Hyrox cages

CrossFit and Hyrox cages : notre sélection professionnelle

CrossFit and Hyrox cages are steel structures built to take the intensity of functional training and of the endurance plus strength formats that clubs are increasingly asked to programme. They suit CrossFit boxes, gyms, physical preparation centres, emergency service and military sites, sports complexes and events. One structure supports pull ups, squats, dips, hanging work, partner work, wall ball stations and circuit formats, which is why it usually becomes the organising element of the training room.

Wall mounted, free standing or multi station rig

Three formats cover most projects, and the choice is driven by floor area, ceiling height and class size rather than by preference.

Format Space requirement Class capacity Best fit
Wall mounted cage Depth only, saves floor area Small groups Compact boxes, hotels, studios with a solid wall
Free standing cage Full footprint plus clearance 1 to 4 users Rooms with no suitable wall, flexible layouts
Multi station rig Linear, scales bay by bay Full class CrossFit boxes, Hyrox training, group programming

Modules to include in a complete setup

Pull up bars at more than one height so users of different sizes can work at once. Squat and bench stations with adjustable J cups and safety bars. Dip bars and ring anchors. Wall ball targets at the standard heights. Storage integrated into the rig for barbells, bumper plates, kettlebells and dumbbells, which keeps the floor clear and protects the equipment. Rope and sled anchors where the programming includes them. For Hyrox style sessions, add the specific work stations to the circuit: sled push and pull lanes, ski ergometers, rowers and air bikes belong in the same layout study as the rig.

Layout, flooring and safety

Circulation is what makes or breaks a functional room. Keep a clear lane behind the rig for run throughs, keep at least 1.2 m between working zones, and place storage so users do not cross a working bay to reach a plate. Rubber gym flooring tiles of 40 mm are the usual specification under drop zones, with lifting platforms where weightlifting is programmed. Frames are reinforced steel with corrosion protection; anchoring to the slab is required for any dynamic hanging work, and a structural study confirms the fixing detail on bespoke projects. Layout drawings in 2D and 3D are supplied with bespoke cage and rig projects.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a CrossFit cage and a Hyrox setup?

The structure is largely the same; the difference is what surrounds it. Hyrox formats put more weight on sled work, ergometers and running lanes, so the layout has to reserve linear space for sled push and pull and for cardio stations, while the rig itself handles the strength and hanging elements. In practice most operators build one structure and programme both.

How many stations should a rig have?

Size it from your largest class. A common rule is one working bay per two participants when the programme alternates stations, and one per participant when everyone works simultaneously on the rig. Ceiling height and room length will usually cap the figure before the budget does.

Can a cage be installed on an existing tiled or concrete floor?

Yes, provided the slab can take the anchor fixings and the tiling is bedded rather than hollow. The rubber flooring is normally cut around the uprights so the structure sits on the slab itself. Send us the existing floor build up with your enquiry and we will confirm the fixing method.

Describe your room, its area, ceiling height, class size and programming, and we will return a rig configuration with a layout drawing and prices. Request a quotation for a reply within 24 working hours.
