Power sleds for pushing and pulling work
Power sleds for pushing and pulling work : notre sélection professionnelle
A power sled develops lower body power in pushing and in pulling with no eccentric phase, which is the property that sets it apart from conventional loaded work. Because there is no lowering phase to absorb, muscle soreness stays low and sled sessions can be repeated more often within a training week than an equivalent volume of squats or lunges.

The surface under the sled decides how the machine behaves. A friction sled needs a lane that provides consistent resistance and takes the wear, which in practice means artificial turf tiles or a dedicated sled lane rather than a general rubber floor. Length of the lane matters more than its width: a sled push is only useful over a distance that allows the athlete to reach and hold speed.
A console converts the sled from a conditioning tool into a measurable one, with distance and output visible to the athlete and the coach, which is what allows sled work to be programmed rather than simply performed.
