How plate loaded works

Resistance is applied by loading standard Olympic plates on the machine sleeves instead of selecting a pin position on a weight stack. Three consequences follow: there is no proprietary weight system to source, the maximum load is generally higher than on an equivalent selectorised machine, and the movement feels closer to free weights while remaining on a guided path. The trade off is plate handling between sets, which is why the format suits strength areas rather than high rotation circuits.

Points to watch on installation

Plan plate storage in the immediate vicinity of the machines. Plates accumulating on the floor are the first cause of equipment damage and of obstruction in circulation routes, and they are also the reason a strength area starts to look neglected.
