Description
The Bodytone Solid Rock SR05E is a plate loaded leg extension designed for precise quadriceps work, with a training load of up to 240 kg. The movement is smooth, stable and efficient through the whole extension, so the quadriceps can be isolated accurately while the user stays comfortable. It is specified for gyms, coaching studios, fitness centres and intensive training spaces that need equipment which is reliable, durable and presentable on the floor.
The structure is reinforced steel for maximum stability, and the seat adjusts across eight positions to fit different body sizes, which on a leg extension is the adjustment that determines whether the knee joint aligns with the machine pivot. Rollers and seat padding are specified for comfort, and the finish uses a high resistance paint inspired by automotive industry standards.

Where a plate loaded leg extension fits
The leg extension is the only machine that isolates the quadriceps with the hip fixed, which is why it appears both in bodybuilding programmes as a finishing exercise and in rehabilitation protocols after knee surgery. Choosing a plate loaded version rather than a selectorised one buys two things: a much higher ceiling, 240 kg against the 90 to 120 kg typical of a stack, and the absence of cables and pulleys to maintain on a machine that gets used constantly.
The eight position seat is what makes that ceiling usable. If the knee pivot does not line up with the machine axis, the resistance curve is wrong and the joint takes shear it should not, so a wide adjustment range matters more on this machine than on almost any other. Install it on rubber flooring with disc storage alongside, and plan clear access at the seat front so users can get in and out without stepping over the roller.
Frequently asked questions
Which muscles does it train?
The quadriceps, with the work focused on the front of the thigh. It suits muscle strengthening, leg power development, finishing sets and physical preparation programmes.
Is it suitable after knee surgery?
Leg extension machines are widely used in supervised rehabilitation, and the plate loading allows very light increments at the start of a protocol. Prescription remains the responsibility of the treating practitioner.
What makes the Solid Rock finish different?
The range uses a multi stage, high resistance paint process derived from automotive practice, which holds up against the scuffing that discs and shoes inflict on a leg machine. Warranty runs 2 to 5 years depending on the range.
