Case studies: documented Light In Fitness projects

This page collects the projects for which every stage is traceable: order, manufacture, dispatch, delivery on site and commissioning. Each case study names the client, the exact location, the product installed and what actually happened, with no reconstruction. It complements our client references page, which lists 80 client organisations across seven categories. The distinction is simple: the references establish who has trusted us, the case studies set out how a project ran.

Documented projects

Further projects are being documented. A case study is only published once delivery on site is established by a dated document and the client does not object.

What a case study contains

• The client and the site, named, with the municipality and the department or country.
• The product actually installed, with a link to its catalogue page.
• A dated sequence of events, from the initial enquiry to delivery on site.
• Transferable lessons for a comparable project, including the points to watch.
• The operating duties that apply after commissioning, such as inspection and record keeping.

We deliberately publish the awkward parts as well. On outdoor projects, the recurring points of difficulty are the same three every time: the ground survey and the anchoring depth available under the slab, the coordination between the flooring works and the rig installation, and the critical fall height required for the impact attenuating surface under the highest station. Getting those three wrong at design stage is what generates a variation order.

What the international projects show

Two product families account for most of our export work. The stainless steel functional rig has been installed in 14 countries, in environments as different as Polish thermal baths, hotel roofs in Dubai, Finnish army sites and resorts in Fuerteventura. Those are precisely the settings where 316L stainless steel earns its cost, because corrosion, not mechanical fatigue, is what ends the life of an open air structure. The iGreenMill outdoor treadmill has been installed on three continents, in Greece, Denmark, Poland, Singapore and Arizona, across a temperature range no single indoor specification covers.

The practical lesson for a buyer outside France is that export projects need three things settled before the order: the transport and customs basis, the anchoring method for the local slab or foundation, and the spare parts route. All three are priced per project rather than absorbed into a standard delivery rate.

What the defence projects show

Four of the documented projects are French Army sites, including one in Tahiti and one delivered through military logistics channels. Operational physical preparation loads a rig differently from a commercial gym: bodyweight work in large simultaneous groups, permanent rotation, and no tolerance for downtime. The specifications that follow from that are heavier section steel, bolt torque inspection on a quarterly cycle, and a documented spare parts channel from the outset. The same logic applies to fire services, prison services and employment integration centres such as the EPIDE site at Combree.

Frequently asked questions

Why are so few case studies published compared with the number of clients?

Because a case study only goes online if delivery on site is established by a dated document and the client does not object. Many orders are delivered direct to the client by our suppliers, with no handover document in our archive, so they cannot be documented here.

Can we visit an installation before ordering?

This is a common request, particularly to judge the finish of a floor. Tell us your area and we will point you to the nearest accessible installation where one exists.

Do the case studies state contract values?

No. A client’s commercial terms are not published. The case studies describe the technical scope, the sequence of events and the lessons from the project.

How can our project appear on this page?

Clients who would like their project documented can tell us. The draft case study is submitted to them before publication.

Do you document international projects the same way?

Yes, with one difference: transport, customs and local anchoring conditions are recorded as part of the sequence, because those are the variables an overseas buyer needs to plan for. Our stainless steel and outdoor cardio ranges account for most of the export projects published.
