Fitness trail stations and outdoor circuits
Fitness trail stations and outdoor circuits: our professional selection
A fitness trail spreads exercise stations along a walking or running route, so the circuit itself carries the training load between the pieces of equipment. What decides whether a trail is used is not the number of stations but the progression between them: a badly graded circuit becomes unusable for part of the population it was built for.
The framework behind our playgrounds and trails
| Standards applied | EN 1176:2015 for playground equipment, EN 16630:2015 for permanently installed outdoor fitness, EN 1177 for impact-attenuating surfacing |
|---|---|
| Certification | Ranges tested and certified by an independent body, TÜV Rheinland on the TRAINER ranges — certificate supplied on request |
| Data published per reference | Age range, free fall height, safety zone, foundation depth and overall dimensions |
| Materials | Hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated steel, stainless steel, HPL and HDPE panels, laminated timber, braided polyamide ropes |
| Impact-attenuating surfacing | Sized from the equipment free fall height, never from its product family |
| Structural warranty | 20 years on steel structures, lifetime on stainless structures manufactured by Light In Fitness |
| Spare parts | Available for at least 20 years after delivery |
| Statutory inspections | Downloadable inspection log, compliant with French decree 96-1136 for public play areas |
| Design and manufacturing | Structures designed in Tours, France and manufactured in Europe — priced quotation within 72 hours |

Stations available for a circuit
| Station | Function on the circuit |
|---|---|
| Assault course | Sequenced obstacles, high intensity section |
| HEX functional calisthenics structure | Bodyweight strength hub |
| Double hexagon street workout station | Multi-user strength and pull-up zone |
| IGREEN non-motorised outdoor treadmill | Running station requiring no power supply |
Composing and siting the circuit
The number of stations follows the linear distance available. Spacing them evenly along an existing footpath keeps the walking sections meaningful and avoids a cluster that behaves like an outdoor gym rather than a trail. Signage at each station, giving the movement and a beginner and advanced variant, is what allows unsupervised use.
Material choice follows exposure. Hot dip galvanised steel covers the majority of installations. Stainless 316L is the correct answer in saline atmospheres, where standard coatings begin to pit within the first years. Equipment for permanent outdoor installation is designed against EN 16630, with EN 1176 and EN 1177 applying to surfacing where children have access.
How long should a fitness trail be?
It follows the path you already have. We size the number and spacing of stations from your site plan rather than imposing a standard circuit length.
Does a trail need a special surface?
The walking route can stay as it is; impact zones under equipment are surfaced to the free fall height of the station. See outdoor fitness trail and outdoor sports flooring.
