Professional rowing machines
Professional rowing machines : notre sélection professionnelle
Professional rowing machines give complete cardio work, loading endurance, back, legs, arms and trunk in one continuous movement with no ground impact. Light In Fitness selects robust machines for gyms, studios, hotels and training centres, with advice matched to the way the station will be used. The rower is one of the few cardio positions that genuinely engages the posterior chain, which is why it appears in almost every commercial specification.
Resistance types
Air resistance self regulates with effort and is the reference in CrossFit and Hyrox competition, at the cost of noise. Water resistance gives a smoother catch and a quieter, more natural feel, which suits hotels and boutique studios. Magnetic resistance is the quietest and most compact option but does not reproduce competition conditions. The choice follows the setting and the programming rather than a general ranking.
| Resistance | Feel and noise | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Air | Self regulating, loudest | CrossFit boxes, Hyrox training, testing |
| Water | Smooth catch, moderate noise | Hotels, boutique studios, wellness areas |
| Magnetic | Quiet, set resistance | Rehabilitation, corporate rooms, upper floors |
Installation and maintenance
Rowers have a long footprint and need clear space behind the machine for the seat travel and for the user to get on and off, which is more than the catalogue length. Where storage matters, check whether the model can be stood upright. Maintenance covers cleaning, checking the seat rail and rollers, and inspecting the chain or belt. Rubber gym flooring tiles under a row of machines reduce vibration transmission. Indoor equipment falls under EN 957, published as EN ISO 20957, and warranty runs from 2 to 5 years depending on the range.
Frequently asked questions
Which resistance type should a commercial gym choose?
If members train for CrossFit or Hyrox, air resistance is the specification because it matches competition conditions. If the room adjoins offices, treatment areas or bedrooms, water or magnetic resistance is easier to live with. Many clubs install air rowers in the functional zone and quieter models on the general cardio floor.
How much space does a rower need?
Allow the machine length plus roughly 1 m behind for mounting and dismounting, and lateral space for the handle sweep. Machines placed too close together become unusable at peak time even though they fit on the drawing. We position them on the layout plan.
