Rope climbing pyramids for playgrounds
Rope climbing pyramids for playgrounds : notre sélection professionnelle
The rope climbing pyramid is the classic of playground climbing: a central mast, armoured rope stays and a silhouette that reads from a distance. The range is graded by height, from HATI at 2.4 m through PHOBOS, CALYPSO and NIX at 3 m to MIMAS at 3.6 m and above, so the model can be matched to the age of the children and to the space available.
Choosing a height
Height is the deciding variable. It sets the free height of fall, and therefore the impact attenuating surface required to EN 1177, and it also sets the diameter of the safety zone, since the stays spread outwards from the mast. A 2.4 m pyramid can be placed on a modest school yard; a 3.6 m model needs a genuine park footprint and a surfacing budget to match. Sixteen models are listed, which gives a workable step between those two extremes.
Construction and standards
Armoured rope over a steel core keeps the stays under tension in free public access, and the connectors are designed for outdoor service. The models answer EN 1176. Each pyramid has its own free height of fall, and the corresponding surface and safety zone are shown on the layout plan issued with the quotation. Installation is carried out in France.
| Height class | Typical placement | Surfacing consequence |
|---|---|---|
| Around 2.4 m | School yards, small residential areas | Lowest EN 1177 requirement of the range |
| Around 3 m | Municipal parks, campsites, holiday villages | Intermediate surface depth over a wider zone |
| 3.6 m and above | Large parks and destination playgrounds | Highest EN 1177 requirement and largest surfaced area |
Frequently asked questions
Which height suits younger children?
The lower models are the usual answer where under sevens are the main users. The layout study confirms the choice against your site and supervision arrangements.
Are rope stays replaceable?
Individual components are available so a worn element can be changed without replacing the pyramid.
What warranty applies?
Between 2 and 5 years depending on the range, with spare parts support after installation.
