Description
DEIMOS XL sits at the point where a pyramid stops being a piece of playground equipment and starts being the reason people come to the park. A 5 m mast, six tensioned net walls and two horizontal play levels give a complete climbing experience on an 8.6 x 8.6 m base, with the free height of fall held to 1.6 m.
Configuration
- Central hot-dip galvanised steel mast, 168.3 mm diameter, 5 m high
- Six main bearing cables anchored into reinforced concrete footings
- Six tensioned net walls between the bearing cables
- Two horizontal play levels within the net volume
Finish for demanding environments
The mast carries a chloroprene paint finish over the hot-dip galvanising. That combination is specified where the equipment faces heavy traffic pollution, industrial atmospheres or persistent damp, and it means the visible finish can be refreshed in situ without the galvanised protection underneath ever being compromised. Cable-to-mast connections are stainless steel and cast steel.

What is the advantage of a painted finish over bare galvanising?
Appearance and an extra barrier layer. Bare galvanising weathers to a matt grey that some schemes accept and others do not; a chloroprene coating over the galvanising gives a controlled colour and can be refreshed without touching the underlying protection.
How much impact surfacing does DEIMOS XL need?
95 square metres, the full 11 m diameter circle, specified for a 1.6 m fall height. That is a lower fall height than the 4 m PHOBOS XL requires despite the greater mast height, because the play levels sit lower within the net.
Where does it sit in the range?
Between the 4.5 m units and the 6 m TITAN. If your site can take an 11 m circle but not the 11 m circle plus the heavier foundations of TITAN, DEIMOS XL is the natural step.
