Playground wood chips for impact absorbing surfaces
Playground wood chips for impact absorbing surfaces : notre sélection professionnelle
Playground wood chips are a natural loose fill surface used to meet the impact absorption requirement of EN 1177 under play equipment. They are produced from selected timber, dedusted and treated to avoid splinters, and they give a soft, permeable surface with the visual character that a park or a woodland setting calls for.

Loose fill only performs at the depth it was specified at, so two things have to be planned from the start. The perimeter needs a retaining edge, otherwise the chips migrate out of the impact area and the declared depth quietly disappears. And the depth needs checking and topping up as part of the annual inspection, because a compacted or displaced layer no longer provides the cushioning it was chosen for.
The relevant framework is EN 1176 for the equipment and EN 1177 for the surface, and the required depth follows the free fall height of the structure above it. We state that value item by item on the quotation. For bonded alternatives and edging options, see playground surfacing and the full playground equipment range.
