Technically yes, and it is sometimes done to control budget by placing stainless units in the most exposed positions. The drawback is visual: the two finishes do not match, and maintenance schedules differ. On a single visible plaza, keeping one material generally gives a better result.

Does stainless steel get too hot in direct sun?

Uncoated metal in full sun heats up like any other exposed surface, which is a design consideration for grip areas rather than a fault of the material. Handles and contact points are specified accordingly, and shading or orientation is worth discussing at layout stage for southern climates.
