Play towers for playgrounds
Play towers for playgrounds : notre sélection professionnelle
Play towers add height to a playground, and height is what attracts older children and gives the site a visual structure. Twelve models are listed: the Skytower panoramic observation tower, a pyramidal rope tipi, the twisted Twist tower, and the Cubes4 cubic structures on four levels in standard or urban versions. On a flat park, a tower is often the only element that reads from the far side of the site.
Choosing a tower
Observation towers are about the view and the climb to reach it. Tipi and twisted models put the emphasis on the climbing route itself. Cubic structures on several levels behave like a small building: children occupy each level and move between them, which suits sites with sustained attendance. The deciding constraints are the same across the range, namely the free height of fall and the safety zone, both of which are larger on this family than on any other playground category.
Surfacing and installation
The twelve models answer EN 1176. Because of their heights, they are demanding in impact attenuating surfacing to EN 1177 and in clear safety zones; both are dimensioned on the layout plan attached to the quotation. Foundations are confirmed against ground conditions before order, and installation is carried out in France.
| Model | Type | Main use |
|---|---|---|
| Skytower | Panoramic observation tower | Landmark and viewpoint |
| Rope tipi | Pyramidal | Climbing route to a single high point |
| Twist | Twisted tower | Continuous spiral climb |
| Cubes4 | Cubic, four levels | Multi level occupation, standard or urban version |
Frequently asked questions
Why do towers cost more to surface?
Their free height of fall is the highest of the playground families, so EN 1177 calls for a deeper or more absorbent surface over a wider area.
What is the urban version of Cubes4?
A finish variant of the same four level structure, specified where the design has to sit in a built environment.
Can a tower be combined with other equipment?
Yes. Towers are commonly installed with elevated playhouses, combined rope structures and large rope sets on the same layout.
