Why stainless rather than galvanised steel
Galvanised steel with an epoxy topcoat performs well on most inland sites. In saline air, or where de-icing salt is used, standard coatings pit at the fixings and edges within a few years and repainting becomes a recurring line in the maintenance budget. Solid stainless removes that cycle: there is no coating to fail, and the surface can be cleaned rather than refinished. Over a twenty year horizon on an exposed site, the higher purchase price is usually the cheaper option.

Does stainless need any maintenance?
