Wood effect shock absorbing rubber tiles
Wood effect shock absorbing rubber tiles : notre sélection professionnelle
Wood effect rubber tiles combine the impact absorption of a rubber tile with the appearance of a timber floor, for indoor and outdoor use. They are specified in gyms and fitness areas, children’s play areas, terraces, fitness trails and public spaces where the surface has to be safe without looking industrial. Construction is a recycled SBR rubber base made from sports shoe soles at 960 kg/m3, topped with a high density vinyl wear layer.
What the two layer construction gives
The rubber base does the mechanical work: it absorbs impact, carries load and protects the substrate. The vinyl wear layer carries the appearance and the resistance to abrasion, which is what allows a rubber tile to keep a timber look under foot traffic. That combination is why the tile suits visible areas such as terraces, reception zones and public promenades where a plain rubber tile would be rejected on appearance.
| Layer | Function | Specification |
|---|---|---|
| Base | Impact absorption and load bearing | Recycled SBR rubber, 960 kg/m3 |
| Wear layer | Appearance and abrasion resistance | High density vinyl |
Laying and use
The tile is laid on a flat, stable and drained sub base, loose laid indoors in most cases and bonded where rolling loads, slopes or large temperature variations apply. Outdoors, the drainage of the sub base determines the service life of the whole assembly. In declared play areas, impact attenuation is assessed under EN 1177 against the critical fall height of the equipment above. Maintenance is limited to sweeping and washing with a neutral detergent. For the wider range see rubber gym flooring tiles.
Frequently asked questions
Can wood effect tiles be used on a terrace?
Yes, and terraces are one of the main uses, because the tile gives a timber appearance without the maintenance a timber deck requires. What has to be provided is a level, drained sub base, since standing water under any rubber covering shortens its life. Confirm the exposure when you request the quotation.
Is the surface suitable for dropped weights?
This tile is designed for appearance and impact absorption in circulation and play areas, not for repeated loaded barbell drops. For a weightlifting or CrossFit drop zone, specify a thick rubber tile or a platform instead. The two can be combined on one floor, zone by zone.
Send us the surface area and the intended use, and we will return a specification with quantities and prices. Request a quotation for a reply within 24 working hours.
