Converging plate loaded machines
Converging plate loaded machines : notre sélection professionnelle
Plate loaded machines are strength machines on which resistance is applied with standard Olympic plates instead of a selector pin and weight stack. The converging designs in this range follow the natural path of the joint, which keeps the movement guided while giving a feel close to free weights. They are specified for commercial gyms, fitness clubs, CrossFit boxes and performance centres, where load capacity and low maintenance matter more than instant load changes.
What is included in this range
The range covers converging chest press, incline press, shoulder press, seated row and lat pulldown, plus leg press, hack squat, leg extension, seated leg curl, hip thrust, calf and abdominal stations, and landmine or multi bar units. Sleeves accept standard 51 mm Olympic plates, so existing bars and plates remain compatible and there is no proprietary system to source later. Frames are high strength steel with epoxy or powder coated finish, and load capacity runs from around 200 kg to 600 kg depending on the model. Referenced ranges include Etenon Olympic machines and the Bodytone Solid Rock line.
Plate loaded or selectorised
Most commercial floors need both. The decision on any given station comes down to how often the load changes, how heavy it gets and how much maintenance the operator wants to carry.
| Criterion | Plate loaded | Selectorised |
|---|---|---|
| Load change | Manual plate handling | Immediate pin selection |
| Maximum load | 200 kg to 600 kg by model | Fixed by the weight stack |
| Moving parts | Bearings and bushes | Cables, pulleys and bearings |
| Maintenance cost | Lower, no cable replacement | Higher, cables are consumables |
| Best fit | Strength areas, performance gyms, boxes | High rotation clubs, hotels, rehabilitation |
Points to plan before ordering
Plate storage is the item most often forgotten. Plate trees have to sit within reach of each machine, otherwise plates accumulate on the floor, which is the first cause of damage to frames and of blocked circulation routes. Rubber gym flooring tiles under and around loading points protect the slab and cut noise. Allow the machine footprint plus a loading zone on both sleeve sides, which is wider than the catalogue dimension. Ceiling height matters on pull down and press stations with high travel.
Standards, warranty and delivery
Indoor fitness equipment falls under EN 957, published as EN ISO 20957, with classes according to intended use. Each reference is supplied with its technical documentation and applicable standard references, which is what insurers and public specifications ask for. Warranty runs from 2 to 5 years depending on the range. Stocked references ship in 5 to 10 working days, with standard delivery to France, Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg and export priced per project.
Frequently asked questions
Are plate loaded machines suitable for beginners?
The guided path makes them usable by non specialists, but plate handling assumes the user can load and unload safely, and the smallest available increment is the lightest plate on site. For a mixed membership with many beginners, a mix with selectorised stations works better. For a strength focused floor, plate loaded is the more logical base.
Which plates are compatible?
Sleeves take standard Olympic plates with a 51 mm bore, cast iron or bumper. Keeping one plate standard across the whole facility avoids the situation where plates cannot move between machines and bars. Small fractional plates are worth stocking so users can progress in steps smaller than 5 kg per side.
How much floor space should be allowed?
Allow the machine footprint plus roughly 0.7 m to 1 m on each loading side and on the entry side, and keep circulation routes at 1.2 m or more. A plate tree adds its own footprint next to the machine. The final figures come out of the layout drawing supplied with the offer on complete projects.
