Professional Olympic barbells

Professional Olympic barbells : notre sélection professionnelle

This range covers professional barbells for free weight areas, functional training zones and strength conditioning. Light In Fitness supplies clubs, studios, coaches and local authorities with bars specified for intensive use and matched to the level of the people using them. Selection comes down to four measurable items: bar diameter, length, maximum rated load and sleeve type. A standard Olympic bar takes plates with a bore of around 50 mm, which avoids any proprietary system and keeps existing plate stock usable.

What is included in this range

Calibrated Olympic barbells at 20 kg and 15 kg for weightlifting and general strength work, shorter technique and training bars for beginners and for coached classes, fixed weight barbells for group exercise rooms, EZ curl bars, trap and hex bars for deadlift variations, and safety squat bars. Storage racks belong in the same order: bars left on the floor bend, obstruct circulation routes and wear prematurely, so a vertical or horizontal rack should be planned when the area is laid out rather than added later.

How to choose

Bar type Typical specification Intended use

Fixed weight barbell Welded, no plate handling Group exercise rooms, circuits

Knurling, coating and storage

Knurling provides grip without gloves. Too aggressive and it damages hands over a session; too smooth and it slips on heavy pulls, so the pattern should be matched to the discipline rather than chosen at random. The coating determines corrosion resistance, which is a real consideration in humid rooms, near pools and on sites with limited ventilation. Storage is the third item: plan a rack from the outset. Bars stored on the floor deform, and a bent bar is not repairable. Under the loading area, rubber gym flooring tiles protect both the slab and the bar ends.

Standards, warranty and delivery

Indoor fitness equipment falls under EN 957, published as EN ISO 20957, and each reference is supplied with its technical documentation. Competition bars and plates are supplied with their calibration references where applicable. Warranty runs from 2 to 5 years depending on the range. Stocked references ship in 5 to 10 working days, with standard delivery to France, Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg and export priced project by project. Volume pricing applies to grouped orders from clubs and local authorities.

Frequently asked questions

How many bars should a club stock?

Count the number of lifting stations, racks and platforms, then add spares so a bar being used for accessory work does not empty a rack. For class based programming, one bar per participant is the working figure. Doubling the most used specification is more useful than adding rarely used specialty bars.

Do bars need to be calibrated?

Calibration matters for competition and for testing, where the exact total load has to be known. For general strength training in a club, a professional bar with a stated weight tolerance is sufficient. Where a facility hosts competition or testing, specify calibrated bars and plates together, since one without the other does not give a calibrated total.

Can these bars be dropped?

Bars intended for weightlifting are designed to be dropped when loaded with bumper plates onto suitable flooring or a platform. Dropping a bar loaded with cast iron plates damages both the plates and the bar, and dropping an unloaded bar damages the sleeves. The flooring specification and the plate type therefore have to match the intended use.
