Container gym, outdoor turnkey training box
Container gym, outdoor turnkey training box : notre sélection professionnelle
A container gym is a shipping container converted and fitted out as a fully equipped outdoor training facility, delivered ready to use and relocatable. Built from a converted marine container with galvanised steel structure, it lets an operator install a functional training box in urban parks, on military bases, at sports complexes, hotels, company sites, schools and private grounds. Light In Fitness supplies these units in 10, 20 and 40 foot formats, configured to the project.
Why a container rather than a building
The container answers three constraints at once. It is robust, because the reinforced steel structure withstands weather, UV exposure and daily intensive use. It is relocatable, so a site can be changed without writing off the investment. And it is delivered as a complete fitted unit, which shortens the lead time compared with constructing and equipping a room. For local authorities, CrossFit operators, physical preparation centres and event operators, that combination is usually the deciding factor.
Formats and typical fit out
Each unit is configured to the intended use. A container can house pull up rigs and cages, Olympic barbells and plates, kettlebells and dumbbells, functional accessories, rubber flooring and integrated storage. Doors can be arranged so that equipment is used inside the container, outside on the deployed side, or both.
| Format | Indicative capacity | Typical configuration |
|---|---|---|
| 10 foot | Small group | Storage plus a compact rig on the open side |
| 20 foot | Class sized group | Rig, free weights, flooring, integrated storage |
| 40 foot | Full training area | Multi station rig, strength and conditioning kit, cardio |
Site preparation and regulations
The container needs a level, load bearing and drained base sized to the format and to the ground conditions. Planning and permitting requirements for a container installation depend on the local authority, the intended duration and the site classification, so this should be confirmed with the relevant authority before ordering; we supply the technical documentation needed for that application. Access for delivery has to be checked as well, since the unit arrives on a lorry and requires lifting into position. Where the container is installed in a coastal or highly humid location, confirm the exposure at enquiry stage because it affects the specification of the structure and of the equipment inside.
Equipment, standards and warranty
Indoor equipment installed in the container falls under EN 957, published as EN ISO 20957. Where apparatus is used outside the container on a freely accessible site, EN 16630 applies together with its protection zones and surfacing requirements. Rubber flooring is specified from the activity: see rubber gym flooring tiles for the drop zones and outdoor sports flooring for the surrounding area. Warranty runs from 2 to 5 years depending on the range, with extensions available on steel structures.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a container gym take to deliver?
Lead time depends on the level of conversion and on the equipment list, and it is confirmed with the quotation rather than quoted as a standard figure. Stocked equipment references ship in 5 to 10 working days, while the container conversion itself is a manufacturing operation with its own schedule. Tell us your target opening date at enquiry stage.
Can the unit be moved to another site later?
Yes, that is one of its main advantages, provided both sites have a suitable base and lorry access. The internal equipment normally travels with the unit, with loose items secured for transport. Moving costs are quoted per operation since they depend on the distance and on the lifting equipment required.
Can equipment be used outside the container?
Commonly, yes. Many configurations deploy apparatus on the outside face so a class can work in the open air while the container houses storage and the heavier stations. Where that outdoor area is freely accessible, EN 16630 applies to the equipment and impact absorbing surfacing has to be specified from the fall heights involved.
Tell us the site, the intended group size and the equipment you want inside, and we will return a container configuration with prices. Request a quotation for a reply within 24 working hours.
