Description

The 20 ft galvanised steel CrossFit container gym is the entry point into the container range, built on a 6.10 by 2.44 m shipping container with a rated equipment load of 1 200 kg. Galvanised steel with an epoxy finish replaces the stainless build of the premium units, which brings the price down to 26 500 EUR excluding VAT while keeping EN 1090 structural certification and a 20 year warranty on the steelwork. Internal and external fixing points take racks, punch bags, gymnastic rings and strength stations, so the same shell serves a bootcamp operator, a sports club extending its outdoor area or a private site. Lead time is 10 to 15 working days.

Siting, anchoring and surfacing

On a freely accessible site such as a municipal fitness area, a park or a school yard, the installation falls under EN 16630, the standard covering permanent outdoor fitness equipment. That means a clear peripheral safety zone of at least 1.50 m around the structure and impact attenuating surfacing to EN 1177 sized to the critical fall height of whatever is mounted on the container. On a closed private site such as a military base, a company campus or a box courtyard those figures remain the reference for good practice even where they are not enforced.

Anchoring is done either by bolting base plates into a concrete foundation block or by fixing to an existing concrete slab, depending on what is already on site. For the landing zone we recommend our 40 to 65 mm impact attenuating tiles laid bonded. Groundworks, surfacing and the electrical supply are quoted separately from the container itself.

Unlike a masonry building, the unit stays mobile. The reinforced frame lets a crane or a forklift lift and reposition it, which is what makes the format work for touring bootcamps, temporary sports events and sites where a permanent structure would not get planning consent. A siting study and anchoring drawing are available on request.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a galvanised container last outdoors?

Galvanised steel with an epoxy finish is designed for more than 20 years of outdoor exposure, including in harsh conditions, and the steel structure carries a 20 year warranty with 5 years on the treatments. Coastal sites within about 10 km of the sea are the exception: saline air is where the stainless steel 316L versions of the range earn their premium.

How does this compare with the stainless container gyms?

This unit is supplied as a certified, fitted out shell with a starter kit of fixings and base racks, and the training equipment is configured on quotation. The 20 ft stainless Premium unit is delivered with a complete five station competition rig, storage racks and electrical fit out, which is why it sits at a very different price point. Buyers who already own racks and rigs generally start here.

Can the container be customised?

Yes, from the colour through to the integrated equipment. Internal and external fixings are positioned to suit the layout you want, and the configuration is agreed during the project study before manufacturing starts.

Light In Fitness has manufactured and distributed professional fitness equipment from Tours, France since 2013, with quotations issued within 24 working hours.
