Rubber gym tiles are selected by format, thickness, finish and intended use. Compare the load and impact conditions, substrate and fire-classification documents for each reference. A fitness tile is not automatically a certified playground surface.

Solid-backed or studded: what changes

At equal thickness and fire rating, two undersides exist in the range. A solid-backed tile sits flat on the substrate: the simplest answer indoors, on a sound and dry floor. A studded tile leaves a continuous void beneath the covering, so air circulates and water drains away underneath — which allows outdoor installation wherever the substrate drains. That air gap also decouples the covering from the structural slab and reduces the impact noise reaching the level below, the deciding factor for a training area on an upper floor.

Two-layer tiles add a high-density rubber top layer over a studded underlay: a smooth, compact surface that does not hold dirt, with the cushioning handled by the lower layer. Across the 100 × 100 cm range, the manufacturing tolerance is ± 1 %.
