Description

The hexagonal pattern is not printed on the floor. It is milled into it. Same thickness and same cushioning as the single-colour version, but a different construction: two superimposed layers in distinct colours. Milling the top layer exposes the colour underneath, and that is what draws the continuous hexagonal pattern this range is known for.

A pattern that cannot peel off

Nothing is printed and nothing is glued. The drawing runs through the wear layer: it wears at the same rate as the floor, it does not dull and it creates no raised edge. That is the fundamental difference with adhesive marking, which is a consumable.

The pattern is not the only option

The same process can mill a gym logo, circulation lines or zone boundaries. Over a whole room the floor becomes the dominant graphic element, which makes it a fit-out decision as much as a flooring one.

Materials and installation

Two-layer construction designed to be milled, 6 mm thick, sold by the square metre. The substrate must be hard, clean, dry and flat. Setting out matters: laying direction and joints have to be settled before ordering so the pattern stays aligned across the surface, and a dimensioned plan of the area is required. Maintenance is vacuuming or sweeping followed by washing with water and a neutral detergent, without solvents.

This reference belongs to the 6 mm patterned sports flooring category, itself part of the wider rubber gym flooring tiles range for weight areas and drop zones.

Who is it for?

Studios and group class rooms: visual identity. The pattern sets the space apart from a room floored in plain rubber. It is often what distinguishes a facility on its own marketing images.

Built-in placement cues. The continuous pattern acts as a reference for circuits, stations and group classes, with no applied marking to redo. It stays readable even when the area is occupied by equipment.

A gym logo on the floor. Milled at the entrance, in the centre of the class area or as an accent on a single-colour surface. It has to be planned before manufacture: it cannot be added after installation.

An accent area within a large surface. Laying the single-colour version throughout and keeping the two-tone version for the areas that need marking is often the best budget trade-off, since the gap between the two versions is around 70 percent per square metre.

What to know before ordering

Milling is prepared before manufacture. The drawing is machined in the factory, not on site. Supply the logo or the plan in vector format and settle the setting out, including position, scale and reading direction, before the order is launched. A change after manufacture means remaking the tiles concerned.

Matching the pattern requires a setting-out plan. A continuous pattern is not laid like a plain floor: laying direction and joints have to be studied before ordering so the pattern stays aligned across the whole area. Send a dimensioned plan of the room with your quotation request.

Contrast depends on the pair of shades. Two close shades give a discreet pattern; a strong contrast gives a very graphic floor. Have the pairing approved before ordering, because the effect in a full room is very different from the effect on a sample.

6 mm is a finish thickness. This covering does not protect the concrete slab from dropped loads. It is not intended for weightlifting areas or the surroundings of a rack.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference with the single-colour version?

The single-colour version is one shade with no drawing. This one has two coloured layers: milling reveals the lower colour and creates the pattern or the marking. The difference is one of construction, not only of appearance, and it translates into a significant difference in price per square metre.

Can any logo be milled?

A clean vector outline poses no difficulty. Gradients, half-tones and very fine typefaces do not translate, because the process only renders two colours. Send us the logo and we will tell you what will work.

Does the pattern match from one tile to the next?

Yes, the pattern is designed to continue from tile to tile. Matching assumes the laying direction is respected and the setting out is established before ordering. This is the point not to improvise on site.

How many colours in total?

Two: the colour of the upper layer and the colour of the lower layer. The pairing is defined per project.

How is it maintained?

Vacuum or sweep, then wash with water and a neutral detergent. Avoid solvents and abrasive pads, which attack the wear layer and the edges of the milled pattern.
