Description

A grey marble effect interlocking tile: the mineral finish that makes a fitness area look designed rather than equipped.

A mineral finish that hides wear and imposes nothing

The grey marble effect brings a sober, upmarket mineral finish to the floor. Its irregular veining disguises everyday marks well while staying visually neutral, which makes it the easiest finish to drop into a space that is already decorated. At 7 mm, laid loose with no adhesive, it is a finishing floor covering rather than an impact floor – and that distinction is the first thing to settle before ordering.

Where this tile belongs

Group exercise studios and wellness areas – a floor that is on show. At 7 mm the tile delivers a clean, homogeneous surface in rooms where appearance counts: yoga and Pilates studios, group exercise rooms, stretching and mobility spaces. Interlocking on all four sides produces a continuous surface with no pronounced joint line.

Hotel gyms and premium residences – an alternative to black rubber. Stone and marble finishes let you equip a fitness space without the black rubber floor that instantly reads as a gym. This is the typical case of a hotel or residence fitness room, where the covering has to match the decoration of the common areas.

Reception areas, circulation and light cardio zones. The low thickness limits the step at doorways and makes the junction with neighbouring coverings easier. It suits circulation areas, reception spaces and light cardio zones – but it is not intended for heavy load zones.

Compact studios and private training rooms – installed without works. Loose interlocking installation needs no adhesive and can be taken up again, which is the right answer in a rented unit or a temporary fit-out where the floor has to return to its original state.

Materials and installation

The tiles interlock on their four sides and rest freely on the substrate, which must be hard, clean, dry and flat. At 7 mm any irregularity in the floor stays perceptible underfoot and can create play in the joints, so an old substrate may need levelling first. Perimeter fixing is useful on large areas or in heavy circulation, but it is not systematic. Tiles can be cut with a blade along the edges and around obstacles.

Maintenance is sweeping or vacuuming, then a damp mop with a neutral detergent. Avoid solvent-based products and abrasive machines, which damage the decorative surface layer.

What to know before ordering

7 mm is not a shock absorbing thickness. This is a finishing covering, not a floor designed to take dropped loads. For weightlifting, barbell drops or rack zones you need a 20 to 40 mm rubber tile – see the weightlifting rubber tiles. The two combine perfectly in the same room, zone by zone.

Decorative finishes can vary slightly between production batches. On stone and marble effects a difference in shade between two runs is possible, so order the whole surface at once, cutting allowance included, rather than topping up later.

Allow for cutting waste and edges. A puzzle installation generates offcuts around the perimeter. Add a margin to the theoretical surface and plan how the edges will be treated, where the interlocking teeth remain visible against the walls.

Material, density, tile format, indentation resistance and fire classification are supplied on request. These are the figures asked for in public-access buildings and they govern compatibility with heavy cardio machines, so request the full technical data sheet before validating your project.

Frequently asked questions

Does installation need adhesive?

No. The tiles interlock with each other on all four sides and rest freely on the substrate. Perimeter fixing can help on large areas or in heavy traffic, but it is not systematic.

Can the tiles be cut?

Yes, with a blade along the edges and around obstacles. Allow a material margin, because cutting consumes part of the surface ordered.

Does the substrate need preparation?

It has to be clean, dry and flat. At 7 mm a floor irregularity stays noticeable underfoot and can create play in the joints, so levelling may be needed on an older floor.

Can cardio machines be installed on it?

At 7 mm, concentrated point loads mark the surface. For a treadmill or a rower, plan spreader plates under the feet or keep a zone in thick rubber tiles. Ask us for the indentation resistance figure.

What maintenance does it need?

Sweeping or vacuuming, then a damp mop with a neutral detergent. No solvent products and no abrasive machines, which would damage the decorative layer.
