Description
The Tipi play tower rises as a truncated pyramid on five steel posts, its curved arches evoking the outline of a tent. Inside, horizontal rope nets at 1.50 m and 3.30 m organise the play space, and a clever central shaft with four half-storeys keeps every possible fall below 1.50 m – a rare combination of 7.5 m presence and minimal fall height.
Big tower, tiny fall height
The Tipi’s engineering headline is its certified free fall height of just 1.5 m. The four staggered half-storeys of the central shaft mean children aged 5 to 14 are never more than 1.5 m above the surface below them, dramatically reducing surfacing thickness and cost across the 17.1 x 12.0 m safety zone. External access comes via a climbing net and walkway, and a polyethylene tube slide launches from the 3.30 m level for the ride down.

Frequently asked questions
How does a 7.5 m tower achieve a 1.5 m fall height?
The central shaft is divided into four half-storeys of rope netting, so every stage of the climb has a net no more than 1.5 m below – the certified value that determines surfacing.
What savings does the low fall height bring?
Surfacing rated for 1.5 m is significantly thinner and cheaper than the 3.0 m specification common on towers of this size, reducing total project cost.
How do children move through the Tipi?
They enter via the external net or walkway, climb the internal half-storeys to the nets at 1.50 m and 3.30 m, and exit by the tube slide – a continuous circuit that limits congestion.
