Description

In brief — Outdoor obstacle course for intensive conditioning: dimensions 2100 × 800 × 234 cm, standards EN 16630, EN 1177, designed by Light In Fitness in Tours and manufactured in Europe (steel with 20-year warranty), price 25,000.00 € excl. VAT.

This obstacle course is a permanent outdoor training circuit built around walls, ropes, pull up bars and tyres, designed for high intensity sessions of 30 to 45 minutes. It comes from military physical preparation and has moved across into fitness centres, personal coaching and municipal sports areas, because a single circuit trains strength, power, speed and endurance while also working flexibility, coordination and agility. Movements are performed at pace with short recovery, which is what makes the format effective for group conditioning. It is priced at 25 000 EUR excluding VAT and suits armed forces sites, sports centres, holiday and leisure operators and local authorities.

Laying out the circuit, surfacing and anchoring

An obstacle course is designed as a sequence, so the site plan matters more than on a static rig. Set the running order so that a group can start at intervals without meeting head on, keep the walls and the rope climb away from the entry point where users are still cold, and allow a straight approach in front of any obstacle taken at speed. A clear peripheral zone of at least 1.50 m around each obstacle is required under EN 16630 on freely accessible sites, and remains the reference on closed military or corporate sites.

Surfacing is sized against the tallest obstacle. Impact attenuating surfacing compliant with EN 1177 goes under and around the wall, the rope and the pull up positions, with the thickness set by the critical fall height. Our 40 to 65 mm impact attenuating tiles laid bonded are the usual answer for the landing zones. Anchoring is by base plates into concrete foundation blocks or onto an existing slab, following the plan supplied with the order.

Groundworks, surfacing and installation are quoted with the project, because the circuit length and the number of obstacles are set with you. Send us the plot dimensions and the intended users, and the layout is drawn around both.

Frequently asked questions

Is it only for military or elite users?

No. The format originated in military training, but the intensity is set by the coach rather than by the equipment: the same obstacles can be run as a gentle circuit or as a timed test. That is why fitness centres, personal trainers and local authorities install them alongside armed forces sites.

How long does a session last?

Typically 30 to 45 minutes, structured as whole body movements at pace with limited recovery, which is what recruits several muscle groups at once and keeps the cardiovascular demand high throughout.

What does the circuit develop beyond fitness?

Confidence and discipline are part of the point. Completing an obstacle demands commitment, and repeated exposure to that decision transfers well to team building, to youth programmes and to any group where the objective is as much psychological as physical.

Floor area required

  • Overall dimensions : 21.00 × 8.00 × 2.34 m
  • Equipment footprint : 168.00 m²
  • Total area to allow for : 264.0 m²

Total area calculated with a 1.5 m safety zone all around the equipment, the value applied by Light In Fitness under standard EN 16630. A unit installed within a set can share that zone with its neighbours, so a complete area requires less than the sum of the individual figures. We provide the dimensioned layout plan with the quotation. Figures calculated from the dimensions of this reference.

Outdoor maintenance

Rinse with clean water twice a year. Touch up paint chips as soon as they appear: it is the bare steel that starts corrosion, not exposure itself. Check bolt tightness and anchors after the first winter, then once a year. No high-pressure washing at close range.
