Description
The Solid Rock outdoor leg curl is a plate loaded hamstring machine designed to stay outside permanently, with a non-slip aluminium support platform and a total weight of 178 kg. It completes the lower body pair with the outdoor leg extension: one machine loads the front of the thigh, this one loads the back. In an open access training area that pairing is what turns a collection of equipment into a usable programme.
Resistance is adjusted by adding olympic plates, up to four per arm in 5 or 10 kg, which are not supplied with the machine. There is no weight stack, no cable and no pulley, so nothing on the machine holds water, jams with grit or invites tampering when the site is unsupervised. The aluminium platform is the detail that distinguishes this unit in practice: it gives secure footing when the surface is wet, which is when most outdoor equipment becomes unusable.
The manufacturer describes a robust stainless steel construction with a weather resistant finish for year round outdoor use. No grade is published, so for coastal sites, chlorinated environments or roads treated with de-icing salt we recommend confirming the material specification with us before ordering.

Planning the installation
Outdoor strength equipment lives or dies on its groundworks. The machine anchors into a concrete base that has to be sized, poured and cured before delivery, and the surface around it should drain freely and stay firm under repeated foot traffic, which rules out grass in anything but the lightest use. Bound rubber surfacing or safety tiles are the usual specification for open access sites. Position the leg curl alongside the leg extension so that a user completes both sides of the thigh without walking across the area, and leave a clear approach behind the machine for plate handling. Plate security is a policy decision as much as a technical one: some operators fix the plates on site, others release them for supervised sessions. Send us your site plan and we will return a free implantation study covering base design, surfacing, spacing and the equipment mix.
Frequently asked questions
Are plates supplied with the machine?
No. It accepts standard olympic plates in 5 or 10 kg, up to four per arm, and these are quoted separately so the load range and the security arrangement suit your site.
Can the machine be used all year?
It is built for permanent outdoor exposure and a weather resistant finish, and the aluminium platform maintains grip in wet conditions. Routine cleaning and periodic inspection of the fixings and padding are still required.
Who is the equipment aimed at?
Local authorities, housing operators, campsites, holiday residences and outdoor sports complexes that want strength equipment usable without staff supervision, alongside private sites building an outdoor training area.
