Description
The TRAINER training bench and lumbar bench set combines two complementary benches on one 183 x 115 x 100 cm structure weighing 55 kg, certified to EN 16630:2015-06. One bench loads trunk flexion, working the rectus abdominis, the obliques, the iliopsoas and the quadriceps; the other loads trunk extension for the spinal erectors and the back muscles. Buying them as a pair is what turns core work in a public park from a single exercise into an actual balanced sequence.

Flexion and extension, not one or the other
Outdoor fitness areas almost always include an abdominal bench and almost never include a lumbar bench. The result is predictable: visitors train the front of the trunk and leave the back untouched, which is exactly the wrong emphasis for a population that spends the day seated. This set fixes that by design, because the two benches arrive together, share one foundation and one safety area, and are used as a pair.
- Training bench: rectus abdominis, obliques, iliopsoas and quadriceps
- Lumbar bench: spinal erectors and back muscles, with abdominal involvement
- Both rated easy, no technical threshold for first time users
- HDPE seat panels, comfortable in sun and unaffected by rain
- 55 kg structure covering two exercises on one installation
Siting and maintenance
Reserve the 483 x 415 cm safety area, which is generous relative to the 183 x 115 cm structure because users lie back beyond the frame footprint on both benches. Surface it continuously against the free height of fall stated on the installation drawing, and keep both approaches clear so that the two benches remain independently usable.
Steel is shot blasted and hot dip galvanised before the two coat polyester finish, so protection sits under the paint film. Benches have no moving parts, which makes this one of the lowest maintenance items in a circuit: routine checks cover the HDPE panel fixings, the frame welds and the ground anchors, plus the annual main inspection required of the operator.
Frequently asked questions
Can the two benches be bought separately?
They are supplied as a combined set on a shared structure, which is what gives the single foundation and single safety area. Individual bench references exist in the TRAINER range and can be quoted if a site genuinely needs only one.
Is it suitable for beginners and older users?
Yes. Both benches are rated easy and require no strength threshold to start: the range of movement is entirely under the user control, so a beginner can work through a partial range and progress from there.
Do the benches need shade?
Not technically, but HDPE panels in full sun on a south facing site will be warm. Where a circuit includes lying stations, placing them near existing tree cover improves summer use noticeably.
