Description
The TRAINER R19B Double Helm is an outdoor upper-body mobility station with two facing positions, so two people train opposite one another on a single frame. Certified to EN 16630:2015-06 by TUV Rheinland, it is supplied by Light In Fitness at 1,596 EUR excluding VAT.
Facing each other, not queueing
The double helm places the two wheels on either side of one widened chassis, with the users looking at each other as they turn. That layout is not decorative. Outdoor fitness areas are used far more when they are sociable, and a station where two people work face to face keeps them there longer than two separate units placed side by side ever will. It is the same reason municipal petanque pitches are busier than municipal running tracks.

The movement
Both hands grip the rim and rotate it through complete revolutions, taking the shoulder through a full circle with the elbow travelling above and below shoulder height. It strengthens and lengthens the chest and shoulder musculature and restores rotational range in a joint that most adults move through a very small arc. Because there is no load beyond the inertia of the wheel, it works as a warm-up, as a gentle maintenance session, and as an activity for visitors who would not attempt a strength station.
Construction
High-grade steel, shot-blasted and hot-dip galvanised, then finished with a double layer of polyester powder coating. Seats and support elements use HDPE panels, and aluminium is used for step surfaces where the configuration includes them. Standard colours are yellow (RAL 1018/7004), graphite (RAL 7016/9006), orange (RAL 2000/9006) and lime (RAL 6018/9006), with other RAL references quoted on request.

Frequently asked questions
Is it cheaper than two single helms?
Yes, on the installed cost. One frame, one foundation, one delivery and one inspection item rather than two of each. The saving on site works is usually larger than the saving on equipment.
Can the two positions be used independently?
Each wheel turns on its own axis, so one user does not affect the other’s tempo or direction. Two people of very different ability can use the station at the same time without any compromise.
Does it suit an intergenerational area?
It is one of the better choices for that. Grandparent and grandchild, or two residents of different fitness levels, can use it together, which is precisely what a mixed-use public space is meant to encourage. The minimum user height is 140 cm.
