Description
The TRAINER R19A helm wheel measures 45.5 x 80 x 170 cm, weighs around 35 kg and needs a safety zone of 346 x 380 cm. It reproduces the movement of a ship helm: both hands on the rim, a continuous turning action that carries the shoulder through its full circle.
Mobility before strength
Most outdoor circuits are built from pushing and pulling stations, and both load the shoulder in a straight line. The helm does the opposite: it rotates the joint under almost no resistance, taking the shoulder girdle through a range that pressing movements never reach. That makes it the natural warm-up station at the start of a trail, and a genuinely useful exercise on its own for older users and for anyone who spends the working day seated.
- Strengthens and stretches the shoulder girdle, pectorals, arms and forearms
- Improves mobility of the upper limbs
- Difficulty rating: easy, usable from the warm-up onwards
- Minimum user height 140 cm, maximum user weight 150 kg
Materials and compliance
The structure is high-grade steel, shot-blasted and galvanised, then finished with a double layer of polyester paint resistant to UV and weather. Contact points and any seating use high-density HDPE panels. The station complies with EN 16630:2015-06 and has been tested and certified by TUV Rheinland. Standard colourways are yellow (RAL 1018/7004), graphite (RAL 7016/9006), orange (RAL 2000/9006) and lime (RAL 6018/9006), with other shades on request.

Who specifies it
Local authorities equipping parks and municipal fitness areas, but also schools, campsites and residential developments. The smallest safety zone in the range, 346 x 380 cm, makes it one of the easier stations to fit into a constrained site, and the narrow 45.5 cm frame width means it can sit close to a path edge.
Frequently asked questions
Is there any resistance to adjust?
No. The wheel turns freely and the user sets the pace and the effort. There is nothing to configure, nothing to break and no supervision required, which is why the station suits free-access installations.
How does it differ from the hand wheels?
Hand wheels use two small independent wheels, one per arm. The helm is a single large wheel turned with both hands, which loads the shoulder girdle and the chest more symmetrically and gives a wider rotation arc.
Can it be installed on a campsite or a residence?
Yes. It is regularly specified for campsites, hotels and residential grounds. The same EN 16630 requirements on surfacing and inspection apply as in a public park.
Send us the site plan, the number of stations and the surfacing planned, and we will return a costed quotation including freight and installation options.
