TRAINER Double Cross-Country Skier - Two-Position Outdoor Station

The TRAINER Double Cross-Country Skier is a free-standing outdoor station with two independent skiing positions, so two people train side by side on one foundation. It measures 146 x 56.5 x 152.3 cm, weighs around 65 kg and needs a safety zone of 446 x 357 cm. Certified to EN 16630:2015-06 by TUV Rheinland, it is supplied by Light In Fitness at 1,668 EUR excluding VAT.

Full-body movement without a load setting

The skiing motion moves the arms and legs in opposition through a long, continuous range. Legs, arms and trunk work together, the cross-body coordination pattern is trained, and heart rate rises quickly because a large muscle mass is involved. It is one of the few open-access outdoor movements that genuinely qualifies as cardiorespiratory work rather than mobility, and it needs no instruction: users recognise the pattern immediately.

Why the double version

Cardiorespiratory stations are the ones that queue in a municipal fitness area, because users stay on them for minutes rather than seconds. Doubling the positions on a single frame is the cheapest way to raise throughput: one foundation, one delivery, one inspection item, twice the capacity. It also allows two people to train together, which is a documented factor in whether outdoor equipment keeps being used after the first season.

Construction and finish

High-grade steel, shot-blasted and hot-dip galvanised, then finished with a double layer of polyester powder coating. This is the standard corrosion protection across the TRAINER outdoor range: the galvanised layer stops the steel corroding and the powder coat carries the colour and the UV resistance. Standard colours are yellow (RAL 1018/7004), graphite (RAL 7016/9006), orange (RAL 2000/9006) and lime (RAL 6018/9006), with other RAL references on request.

Is the free-standing version easier to install than a pylon-mounted one?

It is different rather than easier. A free-standing frame is anchored to a prepared slab or to individual footings under its own base, so there is no deep pylon excavation. Where a site already has a concrete or bonded rubber surface, the free-standing format is usually quicker and less disruptive to fit.

Does the movement suit older users?

Yes. There is no impact, the range of motion is self-selected, and resistance never exceeds body mass. It is one of the stations most used by over-60s on municipal trails, alongside the walker and the arm trainer.

What safety surface is required?

The 446 x 357 cm zone must be free of obstacles and, depending on the free height of fall determined for the site, may require an impact-attenuating surface. We confirm the requirement with the layout drawing and can supply the surfacing with the equipment.
