Description
The TRAINER M21 Pedal Bench is a seated outdoor pedalling station with a twin crank set, measuring 150 x 110 x 82 cm and weighing 35 kg. It requires a safety zone of 450 x 410 cm. Certified to EN 16630:2015-06 by TUV Rheinland, it is supplied by Light In Fitness at 1,614 EUR excluding VAT.
Cardio work with the knees protected
Seated pedalling is the lowest-impact leg movement available in an outdoor fitness area. The body weight is carried by the seat rather than by the joints, the knee travels through a controlled arc without any load at the extremes, and the intensity is governed entirely by the user’s cadence. That combination makes it the station of choice for older visitors, for people returning from a knee problem and for anyone whose weight makes running or stepping uncomfortable.
- Seated pedalling movement, twin cranks
- Strengthens the leg muscles while sparing the knee joint
- Increases cardiorespiratory capacity
- Difficulty rated easy, maximum user weight 150 kg
Low profile, wide zone
At 82 cm high the M21 is one of the lowest units in the range, which makes it visually unobtrusive along a path or beside a play area. The safety zone, however, is 450 x 410 cm, considerably larger than the frame, because the legs extend well beyond the equipment during pedalling. This is a common cause of layout errors: designers who plan from the equipment footprint rather than from the zone end up placing benches or planting inside the clear area.
Construction
High-grade steel, shot-blasted and hot-dip galvanised, then finished with a double layer of polyester powder coating. The seat is HDPE panel, which does not absorb rain, does not splinter as timber does and stays usable in cold weather. Standard colours are yellow (RAL 1018/7004), graphite (RAL 7016/9006), orange (RAL 2000/9006) and lime (RAL 6018/9006), with other RAL references on request.

Frequently asked questions
Is it suitable for a senior or rehabilitation circuit?
It is one of the first stations we specify for that use. Seated, unloaded, self-paced and with no technique to learn, it meets the practical requirements of an adapted physical activity programme. Note that it is not wheelchair accessible: the user transfers to the seat.
Can the pedalling resistance be changed?
No. Open-access equipment under EN 16630 works without settable resistance, so intensity comes from cadence and session length. That is what makes the station safe to leave unsupervised and free of anything requiring calibration.
How does it compare with the outdoor elliptical?
The elliptical is a standing, whole-body movement rated medium; the pedal bench is seated, leg-focused and rated easy. On a trail intended for a broad public, installing both covers two very different user groups.
