Description
The TRAINER R03A single surfer measures 78.3 x 75 x 164 cm, weighs 45 kg and needs a safety zone of 374 x 375 cm. It is the free-standing single-user version from the OutdoorStart range, carrying its own base rather than sharing a support post.
Rotation, the movement outdoor circuits usually miss
Public fitness trails are almost always built from pushes, pulls and leg drives. Rotation is left out, even though it is the pattern the trunk uses in walking, running and every change of direction. The surfer supplies it: standing on the pivoting platform and holding the handles, the user swings the hips side to side while the shoulders stay level. The obliques and the hip musculature do the work, and coordination improves simply through repetition.
- Works the oblique abdominals and the hip muscles
- Improves flexibility and whole-body coordination
- Difficulty rating: easy, suitable across age groups
- Maximum user weight 150 kg
Materials and finish
The frame is high-grade steel, shot-blasted and galvanised, then finished with a double layer of polyester paint. The rotating platform incorporates HDPE panel elements chosen for UV and weather resistance, a material that keeps its grip when wet and does not become slippery as it ages. Colourways are yellow (RAL 1018/7004), graphite (RAL 7016/9006), orange (RAL 2000/9006) and lime (RAL 6018/9006), with other shades quoted on request.

Placing it on a trail
The surfer is a station children gravitate towards, which is useful for family use of a park but means the 374 x 375 cm safety zone should be respected strictly and kept away from paths. As a free-standing unit it can be added to an existing installation without disturbing the posts already set, which makes it a common choice when a municipality extends a trail.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference from the double surfer?
Capacity. The single version takes one user; the double allows two people to train side by side, which matters on busy sites and in school settings where a class rotates through the stations.
Is the platform slippery in the rain?
The HDPE platform elements are specified for outdoor use and retain grip when wet. As with any outdoor station, the surfacing underneath should meet the EN 16630 impact requirements for the free height of fall.
Does it need a foundation?
Yes, like every free-standing station it is anchored to a prepared base. We supply the foundation detail and the dimensioned drawing with the quotation.
Tell us the site dimensions, the number of stations and the surfacing already in place, and we will return a layout proposal with a costed quotation.
