Description

Loading the abdominals instead of counting repetitions
Bodyweight core work has one setting, so progression happens through repetition count and eventually stops producing adaptation. A selectorised crunch applies the same progressive overload used everywhere else on the floor: fewer repetitions against a load that increases over a training block. It is also far easier to perform correctly than a floor crunch, because the chest pad and the fixed path prevent the hip flexors taking over.
- Selectorised 100 kg weight stack
- Chest pad transmitting the load through the trunk rather than the neck
- Adjustable range of movement and seat position
- Handles for a stable grip through the flexion
- Steel weight plates insulated with noise-reducing PVC
- PU foam padding with synthetic leather
Muscles worked
Primary load on the rectus abdominis, with the obliques and the deep abdominal wall stabilising throughout. A trained abdominal wall supports posture and contributes to every loaded movement performed standing, which is why a core station belongs in a strength circuit rather than being treated as a finisher.
Set-up
Adjust the seat so the pivot of the machine aligns with the base of the sternum and the chest pad sits comfortably against the torso. Flex the trunk rather than pulling with the arms, and control the return. Select a load that allows twelve to fifteen controlled repetitions before adding weight.

Frequently asked questions
Is a machine crunch better than floor work?
It is different, and complementary. Floor work trains the core to resist movement; the machine trains it to produce trunk flexion against a measurable load. Only the machine allows progressive overload, which is why a commercial floor usually wants both.
Is it safe for the cervical spine?
Yes, provided the seat is set correctly. Load passes through the chest pad, not through the hands or the neck, which removes the cervical strain associated with hands-behind-head floor crunches.
How much floor space is needed?
The machine occupies 1245 x 1078 mm, one of the most compact footprints in the range. Allow clear access at the rear for the stack. At 185 kg it is straightforward to site on most floors.
