Description
The Power Line Back Extension is a selectorised lumbar station with a 100 kg weight stack. It measures 1270 x 1230 x 1655 mm and weighs 180 kg, making it the most compact machine in the range. A pelvic restraint isolates the lumbar extensors from the hip. Professional price: 2,450 EUR excluding VAT.
Training the lower back under controlled load
Lumbar extension is difficult to load safely with free weights, and most gyms leave the erector spinae untrained as a result. A selectorised station with a pelvic restraint solves both problems: the load is selected in small increments, the pelvis is fixed so the hip cannot take over, and the range of movement can be limited to what the user tolerates. It is one of the few machines used as much in rehabilitation as in general training.
- Selectorised 100 kg weight stack
- Pelvic and thigh restraint isolating the lumbar extensors
- Adjustable range of movement, set to the tolerance of the user
- Padded back roller distributing pressure across the upper back
- Steel weight plates insulated with noise-reducing PVC
- PU foam padding with synthetic leather
Muscles worked
Primary load on the erector spinae, with the gluteus maximus and hamstrings involved as the movement approaches full extension. Trained progressively, this group supports posture, spinal stability and every lift performed from the floor.
Set-up
Fix the pelvis with the thigh restraint, set the range so the movement stops where the user is comfortable, and select a light load. Progress the range before progressing the load: on a lumbar station the useful adaptation comes from controlled repetitions through a gradually increasing range, not from a heavy stack.

Frequently asked questions
Can it be used by members with a history of back pain?
Under professional supervision and with a range set by a clinician, yes, and that is one of its most common applications. The adjustable range and the fine load increments allow a progression that a hyperextension bench, where body weight is the only load, cannot provide.
Does it replace a hyperextension bench?
For most purposes yes, and it adds what the bench lacks: a selectable load and a limited range. A bench remains useful for high-repetition bodyweight work and costs far less, so some floors carry both.
How much floor space is needed?
The machine occupies 1270 x 1230 mm, the smallest footprint in the range, and at 180 kg it is also the lightest. Allow clear access at the rear for the stack.
