Programming and progression

The 90 kg stack covers the full membership range for a single-joint arm movement. Typical prescriptions are 3 sets of 10 to 15 repetitions for hypertrophy blocks, or higher-repetition finishing sets in circuit format. Because the movement is fully guided, it is also used as a controlled loading exercise in the later stages of elbow and forearm rehabilitation, where a free barbell would be inappropriate.

Arm zone layout

The SPG009 is usually paired with the SPG010 triceps station so that members can superset push and pull at the elbow without crossing the floor. A selectorised stack is faster between sets and removes plate handling and storage, which suits high-traffic clubs and unstaffed sites. Plate-loaded units allow higher peak loads and a different resistance feel, but they need a plate tree next to every station.
