Description
The Gold SPG011 is the seated abdominal station of the Ellipse selectorised line: an 80 kg weight stack, a 1,045 x 1,142 mm floor footprint and a 210 kg self-supporting frame rated for users up to 180 kg.
Guided trunk flexion instead of floor crunches
Floor-based abdominal work is hard to load progressively and hard to supervise across a mixed membership. The SPG011 replaces it with a seated, back-supported trunk flexion performed against a pin-selected stack. The user sits, sets the chest pad, and flexes the trunk against a resistance that can be reproduced identically from one session to the next. For an operator that repeatability matters more than the movement itself: a numbered stack turns core training into something a coach can prescribe, log and progress.
- Seated crunch pattern loading the rectus abdominis with the lumbar spine supported
- 80 kg selectorised stack, pin-selected, no loose plates to store or replace
- Maximum user weight 180 kg
- 1,045 x 1,142 mm footprint, the most compact station in the Ellipse trunk group
- 210 kg machine weight, free-standing, no floor anchoring required on a suitable slab
Placing it on the gym floor
The SPG011 is normally installed next to the SPG012 back extension and the SPG013 rotary torso to form a three-station trunk block. That grouping shortens circuit transitions and keeps supervision in one sightline. Allow roughly 800 mm of clear access on the entry side and 500 mm behind the stack shroud for servicing. At 210 kg the machine is the lightest of the range, which makes it a practical choice for first-floor gyms where slab loading has to be checked station by station.
Who it suits
Three profiles use this station most: deconditioned members starting a supervised programme, who need trunk work without getting down to the mat; older members for whom floor transfers are the barrier; and strength members using it as accessory volume after compound lifts. Because the seat and chest pad support the torso, the station is also widely specified in health-referral and rehabilitation settings where an instructor needs to control range and load precisely.

Frequently asked questions
Is an 80 kg stack enough for trained users?
For trunk flexion, yes. Abdominal stations are loaded in a much lower range than pressing or pulling machines, and 80 kg in 5 kg increments covers beginners through to advanced members working in the 8 to 12 repetition range. Where a member reaches the top plate, progression is normally handled through tempo and range rather than more load.
Does it need to be bolted to the floor?
No. The 210 kg frame is self-supporting and the movement generates no horizontal tipping force. A level floor with adequate load capacity is sufficient. Anchoring is only considered where local rules for public-access facilities require it.
How much space should be allowed in a circuit layout?
Plan on approximately 2.5 m x 2.5 m per station including access and passing space. In a fixed circuit with one-way flow this can be reduced, but keeping the stack side clear for maintenance access is advisable.
The Gold SPG011 is quoted at 1,950 EUR excluding VAT. Delivery, positioning and assembly are quoted per site, and the machine can be combined with the rest of the Gold Line selectorised range as a full circuit. Send us your floor plan and we will return a station-by-station layout and price within 24 to 72 hours.
