Description
The Gold SPG014 seated leg curl uses a 102 kg selectorised stack on a 242 kg frame, with a 1,298 x 1,615 mm footprint and a 1,650 mm height. Maximum user weight is 180 kg.
Seated rather than prone, and why clubs choose it
A seated leg curl is faster to enter and exit than a prone version, needs less floor depth, and keeps the member upright and visible on the gym floor. Those three points decide the specification in most general-membership facilities. Biomechanically the hip is flexed, so the hamstrings work from a lengthened position at the hip, which produces a different loading emphasis to the prone curl rather than a lesser one.
- Seated knee flexion loading the hamstring group
- 102 kg pin-selected stack
- Adjustable back pad, thigh restraint and ankle roller
- 1,298 x 1,615 mm footprint, 1,650 mm height
- 242 kg machine weight, maximum user weight 180 kg
Balancing the leg zone
Quadriceps work is over-represented in nearly every gym: leg press, leg extension and squat patterns all load the front of the thigh. A dedicated hamstring station is what balances the zone, and the ratio matters for knee joint health as well as for performance. The SPG014 is normally installed opposite the SPG016 leg extension so the two can be alternated in a single circuit pass.
Setting the three adjustments
Back pad depth sets the knee at the pivot; the thigh restraint stops the hip lifting when load rises; the ankle roller sits just above the heel. Members who skip the thigh restraint lose control of the movement in the last third of the set, which is the point at which the hamstring is doing the most work. All three adjustments are tool-free and should be covered at induction.

Frequently asked questions
Seated or prone leg curl for a single-station leg zone?
Seated, in most cases. It is quicker to use, occupies less depth and is easier for older or less mobile members to get into. The prone SPG015 is the better choice where the facility serves sports teams or rehabilitation programmes.
Is it appropriate after knee surgery?
Closed-range hamstring loading is a normal component of post-operative knee protocols, but load and range must follow the clinical prescription. The station provides a repeatable load, which is what makes a protocol auditable.
What does routine servicing involve?
Monthly cable and fitting inspection, guide rod cleaning and lubrication, upholstery inspection and a check that all three adjustment mechanisms lock positively. Annual cable inspection with replacement as required.
Quoted at 1,950 EUR excluding VAT. Frequently ordered with the SPG016 leg extension as a matched pair. Send us your leg-zone requirement for a consolidated quotation within 24 to 72 hours.
