Description

The Gold Line hip thrust machine measures 167 x 151.5 x 79 cm, weighs 90 kg and accepts users up to 180 kg. It replaces the improvised barbell-and-bench set-up with a dedicated station where the hip extension movement is guided, the back support is fixed, and nothing has to be rolled into position before a set.

What the machine solves

Performed on the floor with a bench and a loaded bar, the hip thrust has two practical problems in a commercial gym. The user slides on the bench under load, and getting the bar over the hips is awkward and occupies a bench, a bar and a stretch of floor for the whole set. The machine fixes both: the upper back is locked against a pad, the feet are braced, and the load path is set by the frame. The result is that members reach the working sets faster and technique varies far less between users.

Muscles and programming

  • Primary: gluteus maximus, worked through full hip extension
  • Secondary: hamstrings and the posterior chain
  • Carry-over: sprint drive, jump height, pelvic stability
  • Non-athletic benefits often cited: posture correction, reduced lower back discomfort, better balance

Set-up and safe use

Start light and establish the movement before loading. Sit against the back pad with the knees bent and the feet flat, drive through the heels into full hip extension, hold briefly at the top and lower under control. Check that the pad height matches the user: a support set too high shifts the pivot into the lower back and defeats the point of the machine. In a staffed gym, an instructor should set the height on a member first session.

Frequently asked questions

Does the machine need to be bolted down?

Its 90 kg mass and wide base make it stable in normal use. Anchoring is still recommended in high-traffic free-weight areas, where machines get dragged out of alignment over time rather than tipped.

Are weight discs supplied?

No. The station is loaded with your existing Olympic discs, which keeps the purchase price down for gyms that already have plate storage on the floor.

How much floor space should be allowed?

The frame occupies 167 x 151.5 cm. Add roughly 80 cm at the loading end so a member can pass discs on and off without stepping into the next station.

Tell us how many stations you are equipping and whether you need matching disc sets or plate storage, and we will return a quotation covering equipment, delivery and installation.
