Description

The TRAINER E36 low trainer measures 75 x 61 x 202 cm and needs a safety zone of 375 x 361 cm. It is designed to be used in full from a seated position in a wheelchair: the user rolls up to the station and presses, with no transfer, no assistance and no adaptation required.

Designing out the transfer

Most outdoor equipment described as accessible still assumes the user can move onto a seat. The E36 does not. The frame is open at the approach side so a chair rolls into position, and the handles sit at the height a seated user reaches naturally. That single decision is what makes the station usable independently, which is the practical test of an inclusive fitness area: whether someone can train without needing to ask for help.

  • Muscles worked: chest and arms, through a low pressing movement
  • Additional benefit: cardio-respiratory condition
  • Difficulty rating: easy
  • Maximum user weight 150 kg

Materials and compliance

The structure is high-grade steel, shot-blasted and galvanised, protected by a double layer of polyester paint for durable weather resistance. The station complies with EN 16630:2015-06, the European standard for permanently installed outdoor fitness equipment, and has been tested and certified by TUV Rheinland. Standard colourways are yellow (RAL 1018/7004), graphite (RAL 7016/9006), orange (RAL 2000/9006) and lime (RAL 6018/9006), with other shades on request.

Specifying an inclusive fitness area

An accessible station is only accessible if the route to it is. Surfacing has to be firm and level from the car park to the station, the approach must be wide enough for a chair to turn, and the safety zones of neighbouring equipment must not overlap the approach path. Plan the circulation first and place the accessible stations on it, rather than adding them at the edge of a layout designed around standing users.

Frequently asked questions

Can it also be used by standing users?

Yes. Nothing prevents a standing user from using the station, which matters in practice: equipment reserved exclusively for one group tends to sit unused and to feel segregated.

What surfacing is required?

A firm, level, non-loose surface that meets the EN 16630 impact attenuation requirement for the free height of fall. Loose gravel or bark defeats wheelchair access entirely.

Is it usually installed on its own?

It is normally paired with the high trainer so that a seated user has both a low and a high pressing position, which together cover the main upper-body patterns.

Send us the site plan, the circulation routes and the number of stations, and we will propose an inclusive layout with a costed quotation.
