Description
The Etenon R8403 is a selectorised seated back extension that isolates the erector spinae under guided load, with a trajectory reproducing the natural extension of the trunk. Seated guidance removes the compensation from the anterior chain that makes free back extensions hard to supervise, and it keeps the movement within a controlled range for the intervertebral discs.
The lower back is involved in almost every sporting movement and in most daily tasks, and weakness there is one of the main causes of chronic lumbar pain. That is why a back extension station belongs on a professional gym floor rather than only in a rehabilitation room. The machine targets the erector spinae, iliocostalis, longissimus and spinalis, and the quadratus lumborum, with the hamstrings and gluteus maximus as synergists.
The thigh support adjusts in height on a toothed structure, the roller adjusts in height with a metal selector, and a double non slip foot platform allows different working positions according to the user morphology. A lower front handle makes entry and the movement itself more comfortable. Progression uses a magnetic pin with 2.5 kg micro loads.

Where the machine earns its floor space
A back extension station serves three populations at once: members training for strength, older members working on posture, and users following a supervised reconditioning programme after lumbar pain. Few machines cover that range, which is what justifies its footprint of 124 x 112.5 cm on a commercial floor.
Place it near the other posterior chain stations rather than in the rehabilitation corner. Small load increments of 2.5 kg matter here more than anywhere else on the floor, because progression on the lower back has to be gradual to be tolerated.
Frequently asked questions
Is the machine suitable for reconditioning programmes?
It is used for strengthening, postural correction, rehabilitation work and prevention of back pain. Programming remains the responsibility of the supervising professional.
How is the machine adjusted to the user?
Thigh support height on a toothed structure, roller height by metal selector and a choice of foot positions on the double platform.
What load increments are available?
Plate increments plus 2.5 kg micro loads, selected with a magnetic pin, up to a maximum stack of 117.5 kg.
