Description
The Etenon R8301 is a selectorised shoulder press with independent convergence, offering a guided alternative to the barbell or dumbbell overhead press. The guided path protects the shoulder joint and removes the need for a spotter, which is why a machine press is normally the first overhead station specified on a commercial floor.
Independent convergence means each arm travels on its own trajectory, so each side produces its own force and the dominant deltoid cannot compensate. The triple rubberised grip system, with horizontal and vertical handles, gives two distinct stimuli on the medial and anterior heads of the deltoid without changing machine.
The counterbalanced arms lighten the load at the start of the movement, which makes the first repetition smoother and reduces the lumbar loading as the user initiates the press. Seat height is set hydraulically and the backrest offers five positions, so the changeover between users of different sizes is quick. Load is selected with a magnetic pin, with 2 x 2.5 kg micro loads, on a Q235A steel frame.

Positioning an overhead press station
An overhead press machine is used by members who would not attempt the movement with free weights, so it belongs on the main floor rather than in the free weight area. Its footprint of 167.5 x 144.4 cm and its mass of 269 kg mean the position is decided once, with the load path to the room checked before delivery.
Counterbalanced arms change who uses the machine. Members returning from a shoulder problem, and older members, are the ones who abandon an overhead press when the first repetition is the heaviest; lightening that start keeps them on the station.
Frequently asked questions
What does independent convergence provide?
Each arm follows its own trajectory, so both sides work separately and a strength difference between the two deltoids is trained rather than hidden.
Which grip suits which user?
The horizontal handles load the medial deltoid more strongly, the vertical handles shift the emphasis towards the anterior head. Both are available on the same machine.
Is a conformity certificate supplied with the machine?
The manufacturer holds ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification. Ask our technical team for the current conformity documentation for this reference before order, and we will supply it with the quotation.
