Description
The Gold SPG003 shoulder press works from a 102 kg selectorised stack on a 282 kg frame, with a 1,552 x 1,540 mm footprint and a 180 kg maximum user weight.
Vertical pressing without an overhead bar
Overhead pressing with a barbell demands shoulder mobility, thoracic extension and technical competence that a large share of gym members do not have. The SPG003 provides the same pressing pattern seated, with the back supported and the bar path fixed. Members who cannot press a bar overhead safely can still train vertical pressing strength, which is the point of specifying the station in a general-membership facility.
- Seated vertical press loading deltoids and triceps with back support
- 102 kg pin-selected stack
- Fixed handle path removing the need for a spotter
- 1,552 x 1,540 mm footprint, 1,650 mm height
- 282 kg machine weight, maximum user weight 180 kg
Space requirement is the constraint
At roughly 1.55 m x 1.54 m the SPG003 is one of the larger stations in the range and close to square. It does not sit tightly against a wall and needs clear entry from the side. In layouts under 100 square metres, this is a station to place early; in circuits above 200 square metres it fits naturally into an upper-body row with the chest press and pec fly.
Who specifies it
Commercial clubs, university and corporate gyms, hotel fitness rooms and military or emergency-service training facilities. In the last group the driver is throughput: a seated press station allows a squad to rotate through vertical pressing quickly without spotting or bar handling.

Frequently asked questions
Is the seat adjustable for handle height?
Yes. The seat is set so the handles start at approximately shoulder height with the elbows below the wrists. Setting the seat too low forces the start position behind the head, which is the main technical fault on any seated press station.
Should a club install both a shoulder press and a lateral raise machine?
If floor space allows, yes: the press builds pressing strength and the SPG004 lateral raise isolates the middle deltoid. Where only one is possible, the press covers more ground because it also loads the triceps.
What ceiling height is required?
The machine itself is 1,650 mm high and the user remains seated, so standard ceiling heights are more than adequate. Unlike a barbell overhead press, no additional headroom above the user is needed.
