TRAINER Steel4Fit Combined Outdoor Set, Surfer, Nordic Walker and Twister

This TRAINER Steel4Fit combined unit groups three outdoor stations, a surfer, a twister and a nordic walker, on one reinforced frame certified to EN 16630:2015 by TUV Rheinland. Steel4Fit takes the proven TRAINER design and rebuilds it for sites where the equipment is in use most of the day: urban parks, municipal fitness areas, campuses, residential schemes and public spaces with heavy footfall.

The material specification is the reason for the range. Curved elements are formed from seamless S355 steel and straight components from S235, welded to a high standard, then hot dip galvanised and powder coated twice. Galvanising protects the steel from the inside of the section outwards, and the double powder coat adds the UV resistance that keeps the finish from chalking after a few summers. The standard finish is the range colourway in red and graphite, RAL 3000 and RAL 7016.

Each station has a distinct purpose. The surfer strengthens the waist, improves flexibility and overall coordination, works the spine and hips and develops balance. The twister exercises the waist, releases the back and lumbar muscles and improves spinal mobility and flexibility. The nordic walker, or air walker, improves lower limb mobility, balance and whole body coordination. The difficulty level is rated easy, with a minimum recommended user height of 140 cm and a maximum user weight of 150 kg, which makes the unit usable by most of the population it is installed for.

The figure that governs the layout is not the unit size but the safety zone: approximately 5,190 by 3,720 mm has to be kept clear of obstacles, other equipment and hard edges. Two units placed without accounting for overlapping safety zones is the most common error in a municipal scheme and the one an inspection picks up first. Anchoring is into a prepared concrete foundation, and the surface within the safety zone must meet the requirements of EN 16630 for the equipment installed. Because the range is specified for high footfall, it is usually the right choice where a standard outdoor unit has already had to be replaced once.
