What Steel4Fit changes

The standard OutdoorFit stations are built for municipal fitness areas with normal footfall. Steel4Fit is the answer to sites where that assumption does not hold: a school yard used every break, a station on a busy urban path, a coastal or industrial location where the atmosphere is aggressive.

• Welded high quality steel, with curved elements in seamless S355 and straight components in S235
• Hot-dip galvanised, then powder coated twice for maximum corrosion and weather resistance
• Distinctive red and graphite finish, RAL 3000/7016, so the reinforced range is identifiable on site

S355 is a higher yield structural steel than S235; using it for the curved members is what allows the section to stay slim where the loads concentrate. The hot-dip galvanising plus two powder coats give a three layer protection system rather than the paint on galvanising of the standard line.

Movement and users

The station has a double pedal set that gives a smooth pedalling motion. The exercise strengthens the leg muscles, has a beneficial effect on the knee joints and increases the cardio respiratory capacity of the user. Difficulty is rated easy, which makes it accessible to every age group. Users from 140 cm tall, maximum weight 150 kg.

Pedalling is a non impact movement, so the station suits older users, people returning to activity and anyone for whom running or stepping is uncomfortable. On a health trail it is usually placed early in the circuit as a warm up station.

Steel4Fit uses S355 and S235 welded steel, hot-dip galvanising and two powder coats instead of the standard shot blasted and painted structure, and it carries the red and graphite RAL 3000/7016 finish. It is specified where the intensity of use or the exposure of the site justifies the extra cost.

Is the frame stainless steel?

No. Steel4Fit is hot-dip galvanised carbon steel with a double powder coat. Stainless steel is a separate outdoor range in our catalogue, normally specified for seafront installations where the appearance of bare metal is wanted.

Is it suitable for a school?

Yes, and that is one of its main uses. The easy difficulty rating, the 140 cm minimum height and the reinforced construction all point to school yards and collective sports spaces exposed to heavy daily use.
