The most complete movement on an outdoor area
Cross country skiing is one of the few activities that loads the legs, the arms and the trunk simultaneously, which is why it produces some of the highest oxygen uptake figures in sport. The outdoor skier reproduces that pattern: the legs drive in opposition while the arms pull through, and the trunk works continuously to hold the two together.
The practical consequence on a municipal area is that a single station delivers a general whole body workout rather than a segment specific one. Where space is limited to three or four units, that makes it the one to specify first.
Coordination as well as cardio
The alternating arm and leg pattern also trains motor control. Users have to co-ordinate opposite limbs in rhythm, which is a skill that degrades with age and with inactivity, and it improves quickly with practice. The station is rated easy, so nobody is excluded, and the effort is self regulated: the faster the movement, the harder the work.

Frequently asked questions
Why are the dimensions given as a range?
Because the moving arms and footplates change the envelope through the stroke. The larger figures are what you must allow for when checking clearances; the safety zone of 395 x 357 cm already takes them into account.
Can it be installed next to the air walker?
Yes, and it is a common pairing. Both are whole body cardio stations, and grouping them on a shared post line makes the cardio part of the area read as a block. The only constraint is that the safety zones must not overlap the working area of the neighbouring station.
How is it fixed?
On a support post or a load bearing wall, sold separately. We supply the anchoring drawings and can quote the posts, the foundations and the surfacing with the equipment.
Send us the surface available and the mix of stations you are considering and we will return a layout plan and a written quotation covering equipment, posts, surfacing and installation in France. See the full outdoor gym equipment catalogue or the outdoor fitness trail range.
