TRAINER D20 Outdoor Flat Bench Chest Press - OutdoorFit

The TRAINER D20 is an outdoor flat bench chest press from the OutdoorFit range, mounted on a pylon or on a load-bearing wall. It measures 195 x 72 cm with a height of 105 to 115 cm and weighs 70 kg, and requires a safety zone of 495 x 372 cm. Certified to EN 16630:2015-06 by TUV Rheinland, it is supplied by Light In Fitness at 1,644 EUR excluding VAT.

Rated very difficult, and that is the point

Most open-access outdoor stations are rated easy, because they have to work for a public that arrives with no preparation. The D20 is the exception in the range: the pressing movement is performed against a large fraction of the user’s own body weight, from a lying position, with no way to reduce the load. It is the station that gives an outdoor fitness area credibility with people who already train, and it is normally installed alongside easier units rather than on its own.

Pylon or wall: two ways to install it

OutdoorFit units are designed to be carried by a separate support rather than by their own base. That gives two options. On an open site, the bench is fixed to a TRAINER pylon set into a concrete foundation. Against an existing structure, a school wall, a sports hall gable, the retaining wall of a terrace, it can be fixed directly to the load-bearing masonry, which removes the foundation work entirely. The fixing accessory is quoted separately in both cases.

Materials

High-grade steel, shot-blasted and hot-dip galvanised, protected by a double layer of polyester powder coating. The seat and bench surface are HDPE panel, which stays comfortable across the seasons: unlike steel or wood it does not become burning hot in July or waterlogged in November, and it needs no treatment. Standard colours are yellow (RAL 1018/7004), graphite (RAL 7016/9006), orange (RAL 2000/9006) and lime (RAL 6018/9006).

Is the fixing included in the price?

No. The pylon or the wall fixing kit is quoted separately, because the choice depends on the site. Where several OutdoorFit units are grouped, a multiple pylon can carry two or four devices, which reduces both the hardware cost and the number of foundations.

What wall is suitable for a direct fixing?

A load-bearing wall in reinforced concrete or solid masonry, with sufficient thickness for chemical anchors and no insulation layer between the fixing and the structure. Rendered breeze block, cladding and insulated facades are not suitable. We ask for a photograph and a description of the wall build-up before confirming.

Should it be installed in a circuit for the general public?

Yes, but signposted for its difficulty. Mixing one very difficult station into a circuit of easy ones gives regular trainers a reason to use the area, without discouraging beginners, provided the instruction panel makes the level clear.
