Description
Not every site has room for a full swing bay. This single swing puts one seat on a compact 2.4 m stainless steel frame, which is enough to give a small courtyard, a nursery garden or a campsite pitch area a proper swing rather than nothing at all. It uses the same tube section, suspension and seat as the double version, so a site that starts with one can extend later without a mismatched frame.
Where a single swing earns its place
- Footprint of 2.4 by 2.0 m against 3.7 m for a double, with an impact area of 2.5 by 7.3 m instead of 3.1 by 7.3 m.
- Ideal where the constraint is width rather than length: narrow residential courtyards, side gardens, gaps between planting beds.
- Accepts either the standard flat seat or an enclosed toddler cradle seat, so the same frame serves a nursery or a school.
- Lower inspection load than a multi-bay frame, which matters for small operators managing a single item.
Materials and construction
- Tubular frame in stainless steel, 76.1 mm diameter.
- Seat with a steel insert encased in EPDM rubber.
- Connectors, chains and suspensions in stainless steel.
- Maintenance-free bearings in the suspension points.
- Protective plastic end caps.
- Concrete pad foundations, 0.6 m deep.
The EPDM seat is the detail worth noting. A steel insert gives it shape and strength; the rubber skin absorbs impact if the empty seat swings back into a child, which is the most common minor injury on any swing.
Siting and safety area
Allow 2.5 by 7.3 m of impact area, with the long dimension along the swing axis. The free height of fall is 1.3 m and the surfacing must be tested for that height across the whole area. Foundations are concrete pads 0.6 m deep. Larger configurations are available across our playground swing sets range.

Frequently asked questions
Can a second bay be added later?
The frame is supplied as a self-contained unit, so extension means adding a second frame rather than bolting a bay onto the first. Because the components are identical, the two read as one installation and share the same spares.
Is a toddler cradle seat available?
Yes. The frame is compatible with an enclosed cradle seat for the youngest users. Specify it at quotation stage, as it changes the recommended suspension length.
Why is the impact area so much longer than the frame?
The impact area of a swing is set by the travel of the seat, not by the frame. A 2.4 m frame still needs 7.3 m along the swing axis, and that length cannot be reduced by moving the frame closer to a boundary.
Send us the dimensions of the space you have and the age group you are equipping for, and we will confirm whether a single or double frame fits and return a costed proposal.
