Description
Puk is a nest swing built at landmark scale: an 11.7 m long stainless steel structure carrying a woven central seat ring of 1.0 m diameter together with rope standing platforms. It is specified where a play area has to absorb a large number of children at once rather than form a queue at a single seat.
Group play at scale
A conventional nest swing takes two or three children. Puk changes the economics of the item by adding rope standing platforms alongside the woven seat, so some users sit, some stand and some push, and the group reorganises itself continuously. That pattern is what a school playground or a large municipal park actually needs at break time, and it is the reason schemes with one big swing often outperform schemes with four small bays.
- Structure and top beam in 108.0 mm grade 0H18N9 stainless steel tube
- Seat ring of 1.0 m diameter with spider-web style weave
- Polypropylene sheathed rope reinforced with galvanised steel
- Standing platforms in 18 mm braided polyamide rope, galvanised steel reinforced
- Plastic and aluminium connectors
- Maintenance-free bearings in the suspensions

Site requirements
The governing figure is the safety area of 14.8 x 12.8 m, close to 190 square metres that must be surfaced to EN 1176-1 and kept clear of paths, planting and boundaries. Foundations are 0.8 m deep concrete footings. Puk is not a retrofit item for a tight urban corner; it belongs in a park, a school field or a large residential open space.
Maintenance
Rope tension and sheath condition are the recurring maintenance items on any rope-based swing, and the galvanised steel reinforcement inside the rope is what prevents a cut becoming a failure. The stainless structure needs no coating. Inspection follows the routine, operational and annual regime required by EN 1176.
Frequently asked questions
How many children can use Puk at once?
It is designed for group use across the seat ring and the standing platforms. The exact figure depends on the ages present, so we confirm the design occupancy with the technical file rather than quoting a headline number.
Does the surfacing have to cover the whole safety area?
Yes. The impact attenuating surface is specified over the full 14.8 x 12.8 m, sized against the 1.3 m free height of fall, and this normally dominates the project budget.
Is site access for heavy plant required?
Excavation for 0.8 m footings and handling an 11.7 m structure need machine access. We check the delivery route with you before confirming the installation programme.
Send us the plan of the open space and we will confirm whether Puk fits. Request a quotation or compare the other playground swing sets.
