Description
Bianka is an inclusive swing whose seat and backrest are formed from a braided rope mesh with a steel core, giving continuous support to a child who cannot hold a conventional seat unaided. The 100 x 100 mm mesh wraps around the user rather than sitting flat beneath them, and the polypropylene sheath keeps the rope comfortable against skin and clothing.
Support without enclosure
The difficulty with inclusive swing seats is that support and dignity pull in opposite directions: too much restraint and the seat feels clinical, too little and the child cannot use it. A net seat solves this by taking the shape of the user. There is no rigid shell, the mesh distributes pressure across the back and thighs, and the child is visibly on the same swing frame as everyone else in the play area.

Access and siting
An inclusive seat is only usable if the route to it is usable. Plan a firm, level approach from the path network to the edge of the safety area, and specify a continuous impact attenuating surface rather than loose fill, so that a wheelchair or a walking frame can reach the transfer point. The 8.0 x 2.2 m safety area runs along the swing direction.
Maintenance
The steel core protects the rope against cutting, and the polypropylene sheath is the wearing part. Inspection covers sheath abrasion, chain wear and the suspension, within the routine, operational and annual regime required by EN 1176.
Frequently asked questions
How does Bianka differ from the Kordelia inclusive swing?
Kordelia uses a moulded polyethylene wrap-around seat, which gives firmer lateral containment. Bianka uses a flexible net seat, which adapts to the user and is more comfortable over a longer session. Sites that serve a wide range of needs often specify both.
Is adult assistance needed?
Inclusive seats are normally used with an adult present, both for transfer and for control of the movement. The equipment does not restrain the user, so supervision remains part of the operating regime.
Can it be fitted into an existing swing frame?
Only where the frame geometry, the suspension height and the resulting safety area suit an inclusive seat. Send us the details of the existing bay and we will confirm rather than assume.
We can quote Bianka alone or as part of a wider inclusive scheme. Request a quotation or read our guidance on inclusive playground design.
