Description
The kids surfer with illustrated panel is a children’s outdoor fitness station supplied and installed throughout France by Light In Fitness. The child stands on a pendulum platform and swings it from side to side, hands on the support bar fixed to the illustrated panel – a playful, self-paced balance exercise.
The movement children queue for
Lateral swinging is consistently one of the most popular actions on a children’s fitness area: it feels like play, yet every swing recruits the obliques, hip abductors and the whole postural chain. The support bar keeps both hands anchored, so the child controls amplitude naturally and progresses at their own rhythm.
What the child works
- Obliques and transverse abdominals
- Balance and proprioception
- Hip adductors and abductors
- Postural chain
Why choose this model
- One of the best-loved movements on any children’s fitness area
- Support bar secures the grip and guides posture
- Balance work that the child doses entirely by themselves
- Several illustrated panel designs available
Two compliance versions: EN 16630 or EN 1176
The station is offered in an EN 16630 version (free-access outdoor fitness equipment, intended for users of at least 1.40 m) and an EN 1176 version (playground equipment standard, governing free spaces, entrapment and free fall height, with EN 1177 impact-attenuating surfacing where required). The movement and footprint are identical – only the compliance framework changes, and it is chosen from the administrative status of your space. Light In Fitness confirms the correct version before quoting.

Frequently asked questions
How does the surfer help develop balance?
The platform swings freely, so the child must continuously adjust hip and trunk position to stay centred. That constant micro-correction is exactly what builds proprioception – and because the child sets the amplitude, difficulty rises only as their confidence does.
Does it need impact-attenuating surfacing?
In the EN 1176 playground version, EN 1177 surfacing is required whenever the free fall height justifies it. The quotation and layout plan state exactly what your configuration needs, so nothing is discovered at inspection time.
Can several children use it together?
The surfer is a single-user station. For side-by-side use, it is typically installed with a twister or expander from the same illustrated family, spaced according to the safety zones on the layout plan.
