Description
The Gold Line shoulder press is a plate loaded overhead press machine with converging independent arms, weighing 235 kg and accepting users up to 180 kg. The overhead press is the movement members are least likely to perform well with free weights, because it demands shoulder mobility, trunk control and a safe way to fail. A guided plate loaded station removes all three obstacles: the path is fixed, the trunk is supported by the seat, and a safety bar limits the working range.

Overhead pressing on a guided station
The deltoid is a three headed muscle and only the overhead press loads all three under significant weight. Lateral raises hit the middle head at low load; a bench press hits the front head as an assistant. A dedicated shoulder press station is therefore not redundant with a chest station, and gyms that own only one of the two typically see it queue.
Converging independent arms mean the hands travel towards each other as the press finishes, which follows the deltoid line of action, and each arm carries its own load. That allows unilateral sets, asymmetric loading for a weaker side, and prevents a dominant arm from disguising a deficit.
- Seated overhead press with full back support
- Converging, independent arms with separate plate loading
- Safety bar restricting the range for unsupervised use
- Gas assisted quick release seat adjustment
- Four Ø50 mm plate storage levels on the frame
- All adjustment points marked in yellow
Installation and daily use
Allow the machine footprint plus entry space at the front and loading access on both sides. Overall height is 193.5 cm, so no ceiling constraint applies in a standard fitness room, but the user presses upward from a seated position and needs visual clearance above.
At 235 kg before plates, the loaded assembly commonly exceeds 400 kg on a compact base, which should be checked against the permissible floor load above ground level. Maintenance covers the pivot bearings, the plate horns, the gas cylinders on the seat and the upholstery. The 2 mm leather over high density PU foam is chosen for durability on a high contact back pad; clean it with a neutral product only.
Frequently asked questions
What does the safety bar do?
It limits the extent of the working range, so the arms cannot travel below a set point. In practice that protects the shoulder at the bottom of the movement and allows a member to train alone without a spotter.
Can the arms be loaded differently?
Yes. The arms are independent, so each side carries its own plates. That makes unilateral sets and corrective loading possible for members with a strength difference between sides.
Are plates included?
No. The machine is plate loaded and quoted without weights, although it carries four Ø50 mm storage levels on the frame. Plates and a tree are priced separately.
