Description
Tukana is the compact answer in the Light In Fitness rope range: six steel posts, three suspended modules and a 6.3 x 3.3 m footprint. It is designed for the sites that large rope structures cannot serve — courtyard schools, pocket parks, housing schemes and campsite play areas where the available plot is measured in tens of square metres, not hundreds.
Designed around a small plot
- Footprint of 6.3 x 3.3 m and a minimum safety area of 11.3 x 8.3 m — small enough to fit between a path and a boundary hedge.
- Overall height of 3.3 m keeps the unit below most first-floor window lines and reduces visual impact in residential settings.
- Three modules, each with a distinct climbing or balancing character, so a small structure still offers genuine progression.
- The same 168.3 mm post section and rope specification as the larger units in the range, so durability is not traded for size.
Construction and materials
Posts are 168.3 mm diameter steel, hot-dip galvanised. Nets are 18 mm braided polyamide rope reinforced with zinc-coated steel strands. Connectors are stainless steel and aluminium — individual stainless components do not make the frame stainless, which remains galvanised steel. Foundations are reinforced concrete at 1.0 m depth. Installation requires access for heavy plant, a point worth checking on enclosed courtyards.
Compliance and surfacing
Tukana is certified to EN 1176-1:2017 by an independent certification body; that standard sets the general safety requirements for the equipment. Impact-attenuating surfacing is a separate specification tested to EN 1177, and must achieve a critical fall height of at least 2.85 m across the whole safety area. On tight sites this is the constraint that usually governs, because the surfaced area is roughly four times the footprint of the structure itself.

Frequently asked questions
What is the smallest plot Tukana can go into?
The governing figure is the safety area, not the structure: 11.3 x 8.3 m clear of fixed obstacles. Anything smaller means either a different product or a re-planned layout, and we will say so before quoting.
Is Tukana suitable for children under five?
No. The unit is certified for the 5 to 14 age range and should be signed for that group. Younger children need equipment with a lower free height of fall and different graspability requirements.
Can it be extended later?
Tukana is a certified assembly of six posts and three modules. Adding modules changes the configuration and the certification file, so an extension is treated as a new layout with a fresh siting drawing.
